BDC Press Release - British Open 2088

YES ! It's time again for the British Open 2008. If you check my video from the last British open, you'll see there's LOTS of action to be had!

Here's the details :


The BDC team is proud to announce we will be holding the second 'British Open' on Sunday 24th August 2008.

This will be a no nonsense, full on day of the best drift action the UK mainland has ever seen, no driver is safe in a top 32 final!

The track demands skill through the tight and twisty early section, it then opens up in to a flat out smoke filled 4th gear finish.

This will be held at Llandow, South Wales.

This event is open to anyone with a car up to minimum BDC Pro-Am specifications.

Drivers must hold a minimum of a BDC AM licence.

We will welcome drivers from ANY other verified championship:

D1, Prodrift, EDC, JDM, Formula-D - ALL WELCOME!

The event will be open to a maximum of 56 cars.

The finals will be a top 32! Yes, not a top 16 but a top 32!

The top 8 drivers in the BDC Pro-Am championship will automatically be seeded into the top 32 and will not need to qualify (although the entry fee will still be payable if they wish to take part).

We are looking for 48 drivers who will be qualifying for a place in the top 24!

Are you good enough?

We will guarantee 3 hours practice time - a welcoming and friendly atmosphere and a minimum of 31 twin battles to crown the 2008 'British Open' champion!

The cost of entry to the British Open will be £100.

Ladies and gents, with 6 EDC drivers already confirmed to be competing, places at this event are going very very quickly so get your names down NOW to avoid disapointment.

It was announced today that Falken tyres are to sponsor the 2008 season of the British Drift Championship.

Following several weeks of negotiaions and arrangements. Sideways are happy to announce that we will be making the promotional T-Shirts for the launch of the first season of the British Drifting Championship.



You will be able to buy these t-shirts at any BDC event, or direct through the BDC website. If you you have any problems getting hold of a shirt, please contact us and we will do our best to help!
The pictures in the blog post are of the production procedure on the first test prints. The BDC logo works well on a t-shirt, as you will all see at the season opener on 29th March.

Sweeps AE86 Special Edition T-Shirt

Our AE86 shirt has been produced as a Limited Special Edition for British Drifting Driver, Mark "Sweeps" Buckle.

To celebrate the glory of his upcoming Yellow Peril of a AE86 Drift Weapon, the shirt is produced in a vivid yellow scheme.

Sweeps is a character well known in the UK drifting scene, but if you are not familiar with him, or his Hatchi, then pop over to Driftworks and watch his progress.

Mark is also been key to creating, developing and promoting the British Drifting Championship mentioned in previous blog posts.

Although the Sweeps Hatchi is still undergoing race prep, we do hope to see the car run next season. Until then Mark will be at the forefront of BDC promotion and we also hear tell he may be commentating for the European Drift Championships for this 2007 season.

BDC 2008 - Event Dates Announced

Following on from the recent press release. The BDC have now released the first dates for the 2008 season.

The first event will be Saturday 29th March 2008 and will take place at Teeside Autodrome.

The following dates and locations will be
26 April, Llandow, Wales.
31 May, Norfolk Arena, Kings Lynn.
21 June, Teesside Autodrome, Middlesborough.
19 July, Lydd International Raceway, Kent.
23 August, Stowe circuit, Silverstone.

In order to attend you will first need to obtain a BDC license. BDC will be holding licensing and practice days at Silverstone and Norfolk Arena in January,February and march. Dates so far are as follows:

Sunday 13th january Silverstone ATC

Saturday 16th February Silverstone ATC

Dates for Norfolk Arena TBC
